This is used to confirm diagnosis of complex musculo-skeletal conditions so that the most effective form of treatment is undertaken. Areas which it is most useful on are shoulders, tendons and ligaments. This is a new facility to the Department and it has been used effectively to examine and treat patients.
It can also be used for more complex injections to ensure accuracy – in these cases the injections are known as “guided injections.”
